Alaw Davies – Head of Children and Young People at Plant y Cwm

Alaw was born in the village of Llanpumsaint before moving to Bronwydd in Carmarthenshire. She moved to the Gwendraeth Valley three years ago and began her career as head of Plant y Cwm. Alaw was raised in a Welsh home and educated at Llanpumsaint Primary School and Ysgol Bro Myrddin, Carmarthen. She studied Welsh at Cardiff University and graduated in 2008. She is a keen member of the Young Farmers movement and a skilled netball player with Sêr y Cwm.

Duties

Manage all the staff of the Plant y Cwm clubs
Co-ordination of the Junior Theatre, Children’s Theatre on Youth Theatre
Presenting Life Skills, Language and Play and Active Life sessions
Provide Language Awareness sessions for children and young people of all ages
Prepare activities for our School’s Language Charter
Attend meetings and represent Plant y Cwm and Menter Cwm Gwendraeth Elli in County and National events

Aled Evans – Children and Young People’s Officer

Aled was raised on a farm in Llangyndeyrn and educated at Ysgol y Fro and Ysgol Bro Myrddin, Carmarthen. He studied Sport at Trinity College and graduated in 2011. Aled began his career as the Children and Young People’s Officer of the Cwm Plant, in 2015. He is a keen football player for Bancffosfelen Football Club and continues to work on the family farm.

Duties

Introducing Active Life sessions
Provide sports sessions for children, youth and young adults
Provide language awareness sessions
Computer and promotional work
Language charter activities
Working with the Gwendraeth Valley and Llanelli youth
